I think one of the most exciting discovery I made when learning about the Aztecs is that people are curious. We are always looking to make sense of the things around us. Look how far it has taken us! People have walked on the moon, there are rovers are mars! I also thought it was cool that most of the tribes made their own writing system, And they were all so different! I think this just goes to show that there are so many different ways to do things and that one idea won't apply to every person.

I think that while Aristotle was a big part of bringing science to the place it is today, we shouldn't focus just on him. Yes he did big things and had big ideas about the world around him but so did many others. There might even be other people who had bigger theories about the world around them that were never brought to light. So far I have mostly only learned about scientists who were men, and i believe that even though the women weren't encouraged or acknowledged in this way they may have also had big ideas about the world.
So yes maybe Aristotle did big things, but so many others did as well and i think it'd be unfair to focus on just Aristotle as we may cloud ourselves from the bigger picture. (And isn't science about seeing the bigger picture?) I've never really been that into making art, but one kind of art that i think is really beautiful is mandala. I like that it doesn't have to be overly complex but it can be.
I think it would be a beautiful way to express my life with the colors and shapes of it all. In some areas it might be complex while in others it might be simple. I think that even though mandala isn't really a picture of an object or person it can still show so much happiness, sadness, light and darkness. I think the main thing i would try to get across is that even though life isn't always easy we can still make it into a beautiful thing if we keep moving forward. The quote below has been very powerful in my life and i think its a very good reminder that sometimes we just need to look from a different perspective to really be happy. In book 4 of The Odyssey, the ways in which Odysseus entered Troy are discussed. The one that stood out to me was the wood horse that he left outside the gates. It is probably one of the smartest acts of war i have heard of so far.
Some people might believe that using the wood horse was cheating, but i don't think there is really a way to cheat in war. There is no rules or regulations decided upon so you can't really break a rule or cheat. I think that just because Odysseus was smart and had an idea that worked doesn't mean he cheated. It might of given him the upper-hand but if the Trojans had inspected the horse more carefully it might not have been as big of a threat. I feel as though it depends on the circumstance. I think in general the people around us do remember our deeds more than our words. Like maybe I helped a friend out and talked to them while helping them, they wouldn’t necessarily remember what I said but they would remember that I helped them.
But in the media and the news. I think sometimes what someone says is quoted so many times that it just becomes a thing. That person might have done amazing things but In the future we will only remember their words. I hope that I am remembered by my deeds and not my words. Because sometimes I say things I didn’t mean to say or that don’t really matter. While my deeds usually are much deeper and have a purpose "The ancients, who were struggling to understand the ways of the universe, thought that the Moon and planets affect the way people on Earth behave."
I think maybe one day someone just had the idea of things like zodiac signs or werewolves or other things that are related to the night sky and decided to share it with the people around them. What started as a cool idea blossomed into superstition and culture. Around that time people didn’t have the knowledge we have about the sky and the universe so they didn’t know what to believe, so naturally when some kind of idea came about they decided to embrace it. And honestly i would probably start believing it too. The idea of a bigger power a constant but ever-changing power, something that was beautiful but scary, big but small at times would definitely grab my attention and drive me to act a certain way and think of the world and the people around me differently. |
