I don't think where you live affects the way you are. I think it can affect the way you do certain things (such as, the language you speak, what food you eat, the clothes you wear, etc.), but not your personality, or the way you act and think. I think that no matter what country/state you live in, whether you're rebellious and loud, or soft spoken and shy, you would have been that way whether you were born in China or the U.S.
I'll give you an example of why I think of it this way. My sister and I were both born in the same state. We've been raised by the same parents, live in the same house, and have done roughly the same thing, all of our lives. YET WE ARE SO DIFFERENT! So, if where you live affects the way you are, wouldn't everything else you are exposed to affect the way you are? How could my sister and I be so different? Wouldn't we be pretty much the same? But we're not. We're different, because that's the way we are, and were supposed to be. I think there's only one thing that can affect the way you truly are - and that's yourself.
